The Picture in the House

Listen to *The Picture in the House* by H. P. Lovecraft, an early masterpiece of backwoods horror about a stormy night, a lonely farmhouse and a very old book with an unsettling illustration. Seeking shelter from a sudden downpour in rural Massachusetts, a traveller knocks at a decrepit farmhouse and is welcomed by a strangely vigorous old man. Their talk turns to a rare volume of travel accounts, and to what the old man has taken from its pages. Lovecraft builds quiet, creeping dread to a grim, unforgettable end. Perfect for listeners who enjoy classic horror, New England gothic, weird fiction and atmospheric short stories.
